The Mid-Boldon Club was founded in 1912 by a group of local businessmen. Known initially as Boldon Business mens club it was originally a leisure facility where local business owners could relax in privacy. In later years the club changed name to the "Conservative Club", although it never had any political affiliations.

The "Mid" prides itself on maintaining the highest quality products and as a result is currently enjoying having received the Sunderland and South Tyneside Campaign for Real Ale "Club of the year" award for the third consecutive year. it prides itself on supporting local breweries by acting as an outlet for their products, which also helps preserve local employment and supports environmental initiatives. Also featured are award winning national cask ales and bright beers and lagers at prices that are bound to attract.

The club boasts a full size 1930's Bur-watt, one piece, Italian slate bed snooker table, as well as being a favourite haunt for those looking to play Darts or Dominoes. A Quiz is held each Sunday evening starting at 9.30pm.

Other attractions include a thriving Gardening section who hold their yearly exhibition and competitions during the first weekend of September each year, and who welcome new members.

The club sports Satellite TV via three HD televisions ensuring its members can enjoy nothing but the best of most televised events and programmes.

Essentially a "Gentlemen's" club, "The Mid" hosts occasional Ladies Nights where women are encouraged to enjoy the facilities and atmosphere.
